About the Open Marketing series

Instead of pushing our "goodness" onto others as we have done in the past,
By "opening up" to honestly communicate our company's vision, way of thinking, and actions, we allow people to slowly understand.

Don't collect customers, gather them.
It's not a sale, it's an exchange of value.
Not to hold back, but to connect.

Introduction

hello everyone.
I'm Hayashi, the representative of Monosus.

It has been about three months since the Monosasu website opened.
Finally, I was able to start serializing.
This series will introduce you to a concept called Open Marketing.
The term "Open Marketing" is a concept that we at Monosus have gradually developed while marketing our own company and our clients.
It is not a marketing term that is already recognized by the public.
(The combination of these two words does not mean it is original,
There are examples of it being used in a different sense overseas.)

This simple combination of two English words is
As a marketing consultant and business owner,
It is like a way of thinking that has been cultivated over the course of one's life as a human being.

I've spent my entire 15-year career as a marketing consultant.
For the past 11 years, I have also served as the representative of a company called Monosus.

In fact, I have had the experience of pursuing these two careers at the same time.
This is a very important element when talking about the concept of Open Marketing.

The job of a consultant is, in short, to objectively observe the client's company and
The job involves identifying the company's strengths and proposing specific measures.

On the other hand, the job of a manager is
I believe that this is a job where you take risks and ask the world about the ideals you want to realize.

Although both have the job of improving the company's performance, I think it is fair to say that their stances are polar opposites.

A consultant's job is to be objective.
So, whether it is rational, whether it will be effective,
That kind of thing is important.

However, the job of a manager is to realize his/her ideals and give form to his/her thoughts,
It's very subjective.
More than being rational, more than being effective,
It seems that many managers place importance on measuring whether or not their business is getting closer to its ideal.
To put it in extreme terms, even if you know that it will improve your performance,
It is the managers who say, "I don't like that method."

The fact that I have pursued these two careers at the same time
It gave me a lot of insight.

And these two seemingly contradictory values,
If certain conditions are met, they can live together without any resentment.
And I've seen it produce some very big results.

In this series, I will explain how I came to the idea of Open Marketing and how I have used it as a consultant and a business owner.
While introducing how it is put into practice,
This concept is still in its infancy,
I would like to explore this further together with you all.

In addition, the idea of Open Marketing itself is a concept that is inseparable from managers and management policies.
I think there will be parts of what I write that will require me to put aside the fact that I am a business owner.
You may feel like saying, "You're writing this in such a big way, but is your company really functioning?"
I myself am putting this concept into practice through my company, Monosus.
I intend to share with you, in the first person, what I have come to see.

So comments, questions, and objections are welcome.
Not just a "Like" on Facebook;
Even a simple comment like "I read it!" is fine,
We would like to incorporate comments such as "This was good" or "I would like to know more about this" into the content from next time onwards.
If you have any complicated questions or feel uncomfortable about anything, please send me a DM if you know me, or if not, please leave a comment using the contact form on this website.

What is Open Marketing?

First, I'd like to ask you all a slightly unexpected question.

Can you explain to someone you meet for the first time in 60 seconds what you live for and who you are?
And does it align with your actions and state?
Furthermore, can it be maintained in harmony for years or even decades?

I think most people would probably say it's difficult.

But only by being forced to say this, and by telling it,
If you can't secure your place in society...

This may seem like a strange expression, but what if the subject of this question was changed from "yourself" to "your company"?
Or it could be your own products and services.

The vision must be clear.
And we need to communicate our strengths and advantages over other companies to our customers and members in a way that is both accurate and attractive.
Moreover, it has to be conveyed in an instant.

This may be a bit of an exaggeration, but
Those involved in marketing at a company have probably felt something similar to this obsession, to a greater or lesser extent.

Many of the managers and marketing people I have come into contact with have
CRM measures to retain customers who are leaving one after another,
They seemed tired of the seemingly endless efforts to acquire new customers.

This may be my own bias, but
So much fun, so happy,
People talking about their own marketing,
I haven't seen much of it.

Even when people talk about success stories at seminars or lectures, they often say, "You never know what tomorrow will bring..."
There is always a sense of crisis.

I think business, and work, should actually be more fun than it actually is.
Moreover, I think it would be good to be more excited about the job of marketing, which involves promoting your proud company to the world.
Furthermore, I think being a business owner, working together with colleagues while pursuing your ideals, is the best job.

I was wondering about this, but I couldn't accept it myself. I worked as a consultant and a manager, and gradually investigated the cause and tested hypotheses to solve the problem.
I personally got some kind of confirmation.
Propose to clients as a consultant
As a manager, I started to put this into practice at my own company.
This is an initiative called Open Marketing.

As I mentioned at the beginning,
Open Marketing is

Instead of pushing our "goodness" onto others as we have done in the past,
By "opening up" to honestly communicate our company's vision, way of thinking, and actions, we allow people to slowly understand.

Don't collect customers, gather them.
It's not a sale, it's an exchange of value.
Not to hold back, but to connect.

I believe that it is important to keep this in mind every day as you carry out your marketing activities.

When written down, it seems very simple.
But putting it into practice is harder than you might think.

From next time, I will gradually explain the details of Open Marketing and
I would love to explore practical methods together with you.
