You have to call me by my name!
-Words from a friend-

Hello.
This is Funayama from the Quality Control Department.

It's been three and a half years since I joined Monosus.
I've been the youngest in my department for a long time, but before I knew it, I had more juniors than I knew.
When I see my juniors struggling with their first tasks in a new environment, I am reminded of when I first joined Monosus and my first part-time job in high school.
Today, I suddenly remembered some words from a friend from my high school days, so I would like to share them with you all.

"You have to call me by my name!"
This is what a friend of mine told me when I was in my third year of high school.

Two high school girls had an endless supply of things to talk about, and I was confiding in them the troubles I was having with relationships at my part-time job.
A friend of mine told me, "Do you call the people you work with by their names properly? Kanae-chan, you have to call them by their names!"

My friend said there are two points to note.
The first is to call the person by their name when speaking to them.
The reason is that when someone talks to them, they feel happier if they are called by their name, such as "Mr./Ms. XX!", rather than just "Excuse me, um...", and calling the other person by their name also helps to close the gap.
Thinking back, I realized that I never called people by their names when I spoke to them.

The second is to call the person by their name when thanking them.
"Thank you, Mr. XX!"
The reason is that it feels nicer to be thanked after your name is called.

I trusted my friend and gave it a try.
I was so surprised at how different the reactions of those around me were from previous years that I wondered why I hadn't talked to my friends about it sooner. I remember that the number of smiles coming from my seniors increased, and that made me happier than anything else as a high school student.
As my relationships with people improved, I began to enjoy my work more.

Recently, as I am on the receiving end of having my name called, I have come to realise once again how important my friends' words are.

There are members in my department who call me by my nickname.
For some reason, there are a wide variety of nicknames, and when they are called by them, I can't help but laugh...

Ofune-san, Funassyi-senpai, Ojou-san, etc. There are various tones and intonations.

Call them by their nicknames.
I think it's an advanced form of communication that not only doesn't close the distance between you and the other person, but also takes a bold step into their territory.

When someone suddenly calls me by my nickname, I somehow find myself laughing and it makes me feel better.
I am always saved at this moment.
When you are busy and overwhelmed with work,
This is a situation where you might feel a little irritated if someone speaks to you without calling you by your name.
So by calling them by their name, and especially by a nickname, they laugh and then switch into a listening mode, so I've come to realise once again how important it is to call people by their names.

"You have to call me by my name!"
Even now that I'm working, I'm impressed by how accurate and wonderful the words my friend said at that time were.
I get together with my friends from time to time, and now we talk over delicious drinks, receive advice, and sometimes get scolded.

Are you calling everyone by their names properly?
Please call them with care, with the feeling that you want to hear them!
