What led to the Kamiyama training camp?

- Junpei Asanuma
I'll be the first to speak. That's because I was the one who first suggested this Kamiyama satellite office experience training.
So I would like to explain the following two points.
Why did you want to experience the Kamiyama satellite office?
What did you want to do?
First of all, I would like to explain why I wanted to go to the Kamiyama satellite office experience training .
It all started with a one-on-one meeting with Manabe-san (Chief Design Officer at Monosus).
About two months after I joined the company (around May), I had a one-on-one meeting where Manabe told me something like, "We have a system in place for using satellite offices."
After that, I contacted Mr. Okubo in the general affairs department to ask, "What is the satellite office experience like?" and I also talked to two people who joined at the same time as me, and I made friends and continued to appeal to them that I wanted to go so that I could attend the training.
So, first of all, why did I get interested in it? The truth is, I'm quite a lonely person, and I thought remote work would be lonely.
However, when I went to work, I didn't have much work to do so I could talk to anyone, so I felt a bit disappointed.

Asanuma's seat at the Yoyogi office
At that time, when I heard Manabe's story, I thought "this is it", and I think I vaguely thought that if I could use this opportunity to become friends with my two fellow colleagues who were working in Yoyogi, it might be easier to ask them to come to the office together.
It's difficult to ask for advice or ask someone to come to our office next time when you don't know them well, so I think this was a good opportunity.
I also belong to the Miyagawa Unit (a team led by Miyagawa-san, who is also the manager of Monosus Thailand. The other unit members are also in Thailand).
So maybe that's why I felt like I didn't have much of a connection with the Yoyogi members.
But the biggest reason was probably because I was addicted to YouTube at the time and saw a video about catching a big stag beetle in Tokushima, and I thought, "I want to go to Tokushima and catch a stag beetle."
The next step was to think about what I wanted to do .
Well, as I said before, the biggest reason was that I wanted to catch a stag beetle.
In fact, I even bought an insect cage and asked Kurihara to ask the neighbors where there were likely to be stag beetles, and I also asked Manabe to tell me where there were likely to be stag beetles and went looking for them by myself, but in the end I couldn't catch a single one, so I didn't achieve my most important goal...
I'm half serious and half joking when I say this, but the truth is that I wanted to deepen my relationship with my two classmates, and what I really wanted to do this time was to actually meet and interact with as many Monosus members as possible.
I often wondered what the Kamiyama members were like, as I only saw them online at general meetings, so it was really great to be able to meet and talk with them in person, have them take me to lunch, and have a BBQ with me, and interact with them.

I also had the opportunity to visit the coder's dojo run by engineer Motohashi, and it made me realize how many different members there are at Monosus, which made me want to learn more about the company.
We'll leave it up to you two to decide how to handle your daily life during the training.
Next up is Matsumoto-san!!
Working and living in Kamiyama

- Kota Matsumoto
thank you.
I'm really grateful to Mr. Asanuma for his leadership in planning this event and to everyone who helped me!
During my satellite work in Kamiyama, I felt like I was surrounded by nature and warm people, and I was able to spend meaningful time with my excellent classmates.
I would like to talk about some of the most memorable experiences I had.
About the job
At the Kamiyama office, I learned so much while working with the Kamiyama employees and my classmates who came with me.
I had only ever met everyone at the Kamiyama office, as well as my classmates who went with me, online, but by working and sharing our meals and sleeping quarters, I got to know them well and truly that they are people who are passionate about their work.
During the satellite work, not a day went by when none of us did any self-improvement study.
It wasn't something we had planned, but it had become a daily routine for everyone to open their laptops after cleaning up after dinner and study in silence.
It was like a small study group every day, where we taught each other things we didn't know, talked about the services we wanted to create, and shared the technologies we use.
I was impressed by their attitude of constantly learning new things from their colleagues and their passion for their work.
About life
Life in Kamiyama was simple yet very stimulating, supported by abundant nature and warm residents.
To give you an idea of how surrounded by nature Kamiyama Town is, the offices and accommodation facilities are naturally surrounded by mountains and fields.
As a result, even in the middle of summer, I felt it was comfortable and not subject to the unpleasant scorching heat of city asphalt.

Here is an episode that shows how natural the Kamiyama office is.
One night while I was working in the office, I saw a small, black thing rustling on the floor and then quickly disappear into the shadows.
To be honest, I don't really like bugs, but I couldn't just turn a blind eye to it, so I mustered up the courage to catch it.
But it turned out to be a freshwater crab .

Swamp crab
In his excitement he grabbed it with his bare hands, but managed to capture it safely even though the flesh of his hand got pinched.
Thinking that he would be surprised when he saw it, I immediately went to show it to Mr. Asanuma in the accommodation building.
Me: "We caught some river crabs at the office!"
Asa: "You'll probably get some crabs lol"
He wasn't very surprised.
This incident made me realize how different values can be just because of the region.
The warm-hearted residents of Kamiyama Town
The people of Kamiyama are surprisingly close to others in the town, which is surprising from an urban perspective.
In any case, the chances of meeting nice people, including employees at the Kamiyama office and people walking around town, are extremely high.
For example, when I was working from a satellite location, it was my daily routine to buy lunch at a supermarket near the office before going to work.
As I was leaving the staff member said "Thank you very much," but after I started going there a second or third time, they started saying "Have a nice trip."
At that time, I thought this was a really nice town.
When I go to the hospital, I notice that the doctors there are very sensitive, and my neighbors bring me some deep-fried shrimp as a gift. It seems that the people of Kamiyama value connections and treat others with genuine interest.

BBQ with Kamiyama members
I felt that it was a town with a lot of really fascinating people.
*
In this way, life in Kamiyama Town during satellite work was a wonderful experience surrounded by rich nature and people.
I learned a lot both in terms of work and life, and it was a simple place full of charm that was never boring.
There's still more to say, so I'd like to ask Takashima-san to continue!
Living and playing in Kamiyama

- Ryo Takashima
Takashima will take over from here.
Today I will talk about living and playing in Kamiyama.
To be honest, when I first found out I would be working as a satellite employee, I thought, "Two weeks seems like a long time."
I thought that doing the same thing 24 hours a day for two weeks with three new recruits would bring back memories of my time as a student.
Food in Kamiyama
In Kamiyama, from July 3rd to July 10th, there will be a Pink House (nicknamed after the pink building. One of the Monosas lodgings).
I spent from July 10th to July 16th in the accommodation building (a corner of the tenement house).
During the first week, everyone knew how to cook, so we started cooking for ourselves in the mornings and evenings, and we went down the mountain and bought a week's worth of ingredients at the supermarket (even though there was a supermarket nearby).
On the first day, Matsumoto-san was in charge, on the second day, Asanuma-san, and on the third day, Takashima-san. Before we knew it, we were on a rotation and each of us was making requests of what we wanted to make and eat.
Delicious. Very good. So delicious.

After moving to the accommodation building in the second week, I stopped cooking and instead bought cup ramen, bread, etc. from a nearby supermarket and ate them in the office.
(Because I wasn't confident that I would be able to use all the ingredients)
For lunch, our senior members from Kamiyama took us to various restaurants.
We had a great time asking each other questions about Kamiyama and discussing work-related and personal matters.
<Stores visited>

sightseeing
On a weekday, someone from the NPO Green Valley gave us a drive around Kamiyama, and we had the opportunity to see a lot of things over the course of an hour and a half.
We visited SHIZQ (a project that creates products using Kamiyama cedar to protect river water), where we had tea (the cups were light!).

<Places I went to>
- Sansan Kamiyama Office
- KAMIYAMA BEER
- COCO Dental Clinic
- The Hidden Library
- SHIZQ
- Kamiyama Valley Satellite Office Complex
On the weekend, I went sightseeing in Tokushima and to Kagawa to eat udon.
I went to the Naruto Bridge, but the weather was cloudy and I couldn't see anything ahead. (I want to go back someday.)
The whirlpools were from a distance, but I think I was able to see them a little.

Although Okama Falls is far from Kamiyama, I'm glad I went!
It was very impressive.

Amagoinotaki Falls is the closest waterfall to Kamiyama and was crowded with tourists. However, it is difficult to climb, so I recommend that you be fully prepared when you go there.
(I fell twice on the way down lol)

Personally, the place I most wanted to go to during this training was Kagawa.
At a regular Unit meeting I asked, "Where is the best place to get delicious udon in Kagawa?" and someone told me, "Udon Baka Ichidai is delicious," so I went there.

BBQ
On July 11th we had a BBQ with Kamiyama members and Food Hub staff.
We started in the evening, but the weather was so nice that it was like a sauna outside, so everyone cooled off inside and ate meat.
At night, everyone came outside and gathered around the bonfire in chairs, soaking in the afterglow.
We had a lot of fun, including some alcohol. (I forgot to take pictures.)
I was feeling quite tired due to the change in environment, so I heard that Kamiyama Onsen was nearby and decided to go there.
I stayed there for two weeks and used their services twice.
There was also an open-air bath and sauna, so I was able to relax quite a bit.
GAME
Among Us has been popular at Monosus recently, so after work we practiced with members from Kamiyama on the second floor of the Kamiyama office, then switched to online and played with 14 Monosus members.
It was fun to see other people's reactions to playing Among Us face-to-face.
I felt that they were doing a good job of "working hard and playing to the fullest when it's time to play."
*We are currently looking for people who want to play Among Us!!!

*
Spend the time from July 3rd to July 16th in Kamiyama.
At first I wondered what would happen,
In reality
- Too much fun
- The strength of everyone being able to cook
- Studying together until late at night
- Healed by the nature of Kamiyama
- The contact with people is pleasant
If I have the opportunity to do satellite work again, I would like to do it.
Well then.
Try the Kamiyama training camp

- Junpei Asanuma
As I mentioned at the beginning, I was the one who suggested this training, so I was worried about what would happen if everyone didn't enjoy it.
I was about 3% worried about what I would do if a problem occurred.
I wasn't worried at all, but in fact everything went well and I had a lot of fun. I was able to interact with the Monosus members in Kamiyama, and I also got to interact with the three of my classmates, so I thought I had a really good time.
While most of the work we did was remote work and we didn't know how to interact with other Monosus members, we were grateful to the people at headquarters who responded to our calls for help from new recruits, our unit leaders who were happy to support our training, and the members in Kamiyama who tried to come to the office as much as possible and organize events for us to interact with each other during our visit.
Thank you very much.
Through this training, I realized that Monosus has so many members who support what I want to do.
So Asanuma is hoping to go to Kamiyama to catch stag beetles again next year.
