Work notebook + daily journal = history book

This is Saito from the Quality Control Department.

I belong to a department where I work tirelessly to point out differences between the created pages and the design, and to look at the same pages in various browsers to check for any problems.

Every day, I go to work, do my job, and go home.
Such ordinary everyday life takes up most of our days.
Looking back, there have been both enjoyable and difficult times, but even at times when nothing seems to be happening, I believe that there are actually many interesting things happening every day.
I realized this when I joined Monosus.

Although work was extremely busy, there were many happenings and laughs among the team.
It's fun to look at the laughter that comes from each person's individuality and communication, not something that is intentionally created by people. And I started to think it would be interesting to record it.
So I started making notes of little things that caught my eye, purely on a personal, casual basis.

Past work notes and notebooks recording daily events

A note like this

I write down the events of the day in a notebook that I use as a work memo. I don't intend to show it to other people, and since I used to do phone work, the contents are messy.
(I remember that in the "Quote of the Day" corner of the morning assembly where Monosus executives and leaders talk about their daily observations, they said, "People who write notes that anyone can understand are people who can organize their work well," so I feel very sorry.)

The amount of content I write has decreased since I first joined the company, so this is my fourth book, including notes I've written over the past few years.

"Mr. XX answers the phone like a kingfisher."
Someone who answers the phone quickly.

"Mr. XX reaches new heights"
→When a new system was introduced, I noticed one person absorbing the information quickly, and wrote this note.

"That person is just an illusion..."
→This was the response I got when I asked about the whereabouts of members who I rarely get to see due to different working hours due to full flextime.

" Mr. XX has a solo campfire with kamaboko"
→When I went into the kitchen, I saw someone placing kamaboko on a stack of chopsticks and roasting them over a burner.

"I eat meat and miso even on my clothes."
→This is what someone said to someone who opened a bag of Oton's (the chef of " Freshwater Laboratory 's" traveling delicacies) and spilled the meat miso on their clothes.

"Consider which leaf to use as an umbrella."
→ I found a leaf in the garden that would be perfect for an umbrella. I mentioned it to a passing employee, who replied, "I think this one is mine," and we had a great time. I was so happy.

A garden leaf that could double as an umbrella

"Bubella Mangataro"
→This is what a serious person said with a straight face after listening to an explanation of a complicated case. I thought I was hearing things, but it turns out it's the same thing a character in a manga by Man☆Gatarō said when he was punched.

Man☆Gatarō (author) "Hell Koshien" Volume 2, 142 pages Edited by Homesha Published by Shueisha 1997

"Yoboi"
→When Kamiyama's Kama Pan announced that they would be selling bread and mugwort loaf bread within the company, someone stepped up in the chat tool that all employees could see and said, "Yoboi, I'll buy it!" It seems that he was a bit flustered because it was first come first served, but everyone was able to understand that it was "mugwort" and he managed to get the last one.

The very popular mugwort loaf - just the pleasant aroma will make you happy

"First round girl of the morning"
→When the Monosus signboard designed by our staff was completed, the person who showed up to show it off walked around the office like a ring girl. I was staring blankly at it a few minutes after coming to work in the morning.

"I feel warm and fuzzy after receiving the email"
→ A test email from a new employee when my email wasn’t working properly. It was filled with good wishes and made me feel warm and fuzzy.

Looking back at other things,
There are words here and there that only I can understand, such as "Apparently, if you eat spicy food, your butt hurts," "They make you turn your chair," "They tell you about your back pain," and "Grandma Kumi." Even if I'd almost forgotten something, I remember, "Oh, yeah, that happened."

It's not something that anyone can see, but it's not something that no one can see, so sometimes someone points out a typo or omission without you even realizing it. This is what you'd expect from the quality control department.

Items with typos pointed out

I also wrote little thank you notes on sticky notes, drew clumsy pictures of what I had for lunch, tried out different pens and stamps, and more.

One day, at a celebratory lunch, the most memorable dish was "Lots of Sesame" among the sumptuous dishes.

There was also a rough draft of an article I had written for the site some time ago, along with some notes that never made it into the article.

A rough outline of the notes I came up with when I wrote an article introducing our company members on the Monosas site. The "bikini with little fabric" is a phantom episode.

Even during the quiet operation of our work, during short trips, and during lunch, something is always happening.
When you meet someone, it's natural to laugh and tell jokes, but there are also many things that happen that can't be described in a few words.
The notes I write in my notebook are usually just quick jots, but looking back at them now, I realize they have become a history book of me, written up along with the changes in my work.

A lot of people probably use notebooks. If you write down a little bit about your daily life in a corner of your notebook, it might become a surprising source of reading in the future.
