Friends Diary February 2026 Behind the Donuts / A Recent Moment

Hello. This is Tomita from FarmMart & Friends. It's been almost two years since I came to the store. In fact, the anniversary of the store's reopening is also my birthday. I feel a little more determined every March, knowing that I'll be growing older together with FarmMart.

With new members and new donuts, a lot of things are happening every day, but this year is the year! We hope to be able to share more of the daily life at Farm Mart with everyone. The theme is a diary that you can enjoy leisurely with a donut in hand. We will update the blog casually, and sometimes seriously, so please look forward to it!

Donuts are new!

First, let's talk about donuts.

Farm Mart's doughnuts were revamped in October 2025. They offer doughnuts made with their own homemade sourdough, which is a mixture of water and flour that is naturally fermented, and whole wheat flour from Hokkaido.

Both the ring donuts and cream donuts use the same dough, but the fermentation time is changed to change the texture. The ring donuts are chewy and crunchy, while the cream donuts are light and fluffy, allowing the cream and jam inside to really stand out. Enjoy the different flavors that come from the same dough!

This month's donut: Kiwi cheesecake

These donuts are made with the hope that people will discover the deliciousness of kiwifruit from Kinosu Fruit Farm in Kamiyama, Tokushima.
This time, I would like to talk about what's going on behind the scenes.

While we were prototyping the donuts, someone mentioned, "You eat a lot of kiwis, but when it comes to sweets, you don't really choose them." Now that I think about it, maybe I'm the same way...
When I thought about why, I realized it was because I love the freshness and sourness of kiwi. As soon as it was made into a dessert, it would become a "sweet kiwi flavor," and when combined with the cream, the sourness would stand out!
However, I was surprised when I tasted the finished donut. My worries were blown away by the bursting juice and sharp acidity I felt when I bit into the fruit. I think this donut is exactly what makes the kiwi shine.

By the way, we also tried out various creams to go with it.
Of course, all of them are delicious. But there's nothing that I can say is "absolutely the best!"
At that time, someone said, "What about cheese cream?" and we decided to try making some with different cheeses.

And just like meeting his soul mate, the combination of kiwi and cream cheese was born.
It's so much fun when a donut like this is born, making people excited and saying, "Wow! It's delicious! I want to eat more!!"

These donuts are not just made because they are in season, but because everyone wanted to share their delicious kiwis with everyone. They wanted to make some delicious donuts so that everyone could know about them.

I hope you enjoy this behind-the-scenes look.
