Desk checking is surprisingly deep!
You might even find out their hobbies, personality, and work habits!

Hello, this is Inui from the Quality Control Department.

The desk where you work every day is a space you can use however you like.

Stationery, mugs, calendars, etc. I've always been curious about what people in the office keep around their desks. Some people keep their desks around their hobbies, while others keep them neat and tidy no matter how busy they are. I think a person's personality is also reflected in their desks.
However, we don't often have the opportunity to see other people's desks.

So, I'd like to take this opportunity to check out the desks of these four people. (They look like Checkers!)
We decided to introduce the items to you after asking him about his particular preferences and favorite items.

First, let me introduce my desk.

A desk surrounded by things you love

Dry Coconut Lake

My desktop is my favorite cartoon character, Error-kun . I often change it to change my mood.

I like to be surrounded by things I like. That's why I don't have many things right now, but I think I'll have more in the future. Looking at it again, I've noticed that I have a lot of characters, like cats and penguins. There are two things I particularly like.

2018 "Today's Nekomura-san" Desk Calendar

cute.

To be honest, I don't think I need to have a calendar on my desk because I have a Google calendar. But I still have one because Nekomura-san is so cute.
In particular, the back of Nekomura's head in the January picture is super cute.

Nekomura-san in January has a cute back of her head.

When you get tired after looking at a computer for a long time, moving your gaze diagonally downwards to the right will make you feel good.

TABOO coaster

These are goods from "TABOO", the label of my spiritual mentor, jazz musician Naruyoshi Kikuchi .
I bought this at Kikuchi-san's event. It's actually a mouse pad, but I use it as a coaster because it doesn't move the mouse smoothly.

I'm proud to have it autographed. It says "yacco" though.

Next is Kawaguchi-san, sitting next to me.

Unexpected Character Discovery Desk

Quality Control Department Leader/Deputy Manager
Minoru Kawaguchi

Kawaguchi-san gives off a serious and well-mannered vibe. He also won the Step Up Award at last year's Monosus Awards and is trusted by other departments.
However, whenever I hear "Kawaguchi-san, you're really good at what you do," I often want to bring you to my desk. I'm happy to be able to show you this time!

Please take a look here first.

There are a lot of figures lined up on the desk.

What a happy face!

He started collecting them after seeing them featured on television.
For some reason, he is drawn to the "Shakurel Series" of animals with slightly protruding jaws.

The whole desk looks like this.

Another nice thing about sitting across from me is that you can see Saito's Jack Sparrow calendar.

"I'm not the type to like having a lot of stuff around, but I thought it would be nice to have some things that would make me feel at ease."
The number has steadily increased and now stands at 15.

"When I'm tired, I find it soothing to look at them or rearrange them."
Kawaguchi is a neat and tidy girl who loves weight training, and she also does cute things like this.
This is the real Kawaguchi.

My favorite is Shakurel Kirby.
Apparently he went to Ikebukuro, where the tickets were on pre-sale, on the first day.

I thought that the number of Shakurel series would continue to increase, but it seems that this is the end for now. The only thing I regret is that I didn't get the panda from the first release of the Shakurel series.

If anyone is willing to give me a Shakurel Panda, please let me know.
They are also looking for fellow gachapon players.

Next up is Mr. Kanno from the CF department.

A messy desk is a messy mind

Coder
Shin Kanno

Although I often walked around the Coding Factory (CF) department room, I never saw the coders' desks from the front.
I heard that "Mr. Kanno's desk is very neat," so I interviewed him as a representative of the neat and tidy style.

It only has the bare necessities! A perfect example of a neat and tidy desk.

"I feel more relaxed when my workspace is neat and tidy. If my workspace is cluttered, my tasks seem to be scattered too."

I can't say a word.

When I read Mr. Kanno's article about shifting to a morning lifestyle, I couldn't help but feel remorseful.

I somehow feel like Mr. Kanno's heart is reflected in his desk.
If my desk were to become extremely messy, I would feel heartbroken, knowing that something had happened.

The iMac that stands out the most on his desk is actually his personal item. He didn't use it much at home, so he brought it to the office.
I was surprised to see that even on a desktop that tends to get cluttered, there was only one folder.

I often adjust the position of my screen and code while standing.

My favorite item is the smartphone stand I recently bought.

I also love AirPods. Apple products are so cool.

Mr. Kanno's neat and tidy desk helps him work efficiently.

Just so simple, just so beautiful.
If you want to tidy up your desk, why not consult Mr. Kanno?

Here we'll introduce one more person from the CF department.

Favorite item introduction

Coder
Natsumi Tanaka

After we finished our interview with Kanno, Hello Kitty lover Tanaka, whose desk is diagonally across from hers, showed us her favorite items, saying "Me too!"

I thought it might be a Best Hello Kitty item, but it turned out to be a handmade coaster.

She apparently made it at an art class she attended on a weekday lunch break last spring when the full flextime system was introduced.

Simply embed the fabric of your choice into the radial sections and it will be complete in about 30 minutes.
"The feeling of putting the fabric on feels good," he said.

Tanaka also said, "Everyone at CF has pretty specific preferences for their desks."
I'm beginning to wonder if there are any particularities that differ from department to department.

Next is Mr. Yamanaka.

Nakamoto's surprisingly modest balanced desk

director
Hiromi Yamanaka

Yamanaka is such a big fan of Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto that everyone in the company knows about it.

As expected from NO LIFE NO NAKAMOTO.
As expected, there was a ton of Nakamoto merchandise on display.

With the help of Monosus members, Nakamoto steadily gained points. His next goal is a towel.

A mug that was given to him with points. Nakamoto said he was "honored" to receive it.

There was still plenty of Nakamoto merchandise available, but it also seemed like he had a good balance between work and hobbies.
Yamanaka's desk has many features that make it possible for him to work comfortably.

Humidifier

It gets especially dry in the winter.

Hot water bottle

It's convenient because it's rechargeable. The cover is fluffy and keeps you warm.

It's quite cold on the first floor.

Carbonated water

It is said that it has a detoxifying effect.

My favorite is Gerolsteiner, and I drink it every day in the summer.

He showed us a number of items, but when we asked him which was his favorite, he said it was a laptop.

Yamanaka-san seems to be smiling a little.

When the company decided to purchase a computer, he asked for the Think Pad X1 Carbon 2017, which he had always wanted.
He particularly likes the keyboard, saying it's "easy to press and gives you a nice feeling when you press it."
Before I started working with Mr. Yamanaka, I thought that his love of spicy food meant he was a passionate person, but he is always gentle and gives me careful instructions about projects and kindly explains things to me when I don't understand something. I am always grateful to him.
I thought it was typical of the workaholic Yamanaka that his number one recommendation was a laptop.

When asked what she would like her desk to look like in the future, she said, "Actually, I'd like it to be more tidy."
But I would like to leave the refreshing part to Kanno-san and have Yamanaka-san push forward as Nakamoto-san. Please don't tidy up too much!!!

Finally, let me introduce Mr. Haga.

A desk with amazing subtle details

planner
Keisuke Haga

The people who were shown the desks this time had a vague idea of what they would look like, but the only information we had about Haga's desk was that "it seems to have a fan belonging to his grandmother." It was the most mysterious, but also the most detailed desk.

At first glance, it looks simple and not much stuff, but
"I bought this in Ebisu..."
"My favorite stationery store is in Sangenjaya..."
This is how much thought goes into each and every one of them.
And I remember everything and where I bought it.
He told me all that information too, but I'm sorry I can't write it all down.
If you are interested, please contact Haga.

There are so many, so let's go at it.

Grandma's Fan

This was what I was hearing.
He said he brought it with him after finding it at his grandmother's house before moving to Tokyo.

"I like fans, so if I see a cute one, I'll buy it." It's old and worn.

Tool Case

A specially selected tool case from your favorite store.

Left: Made in Denmark Right: Made in Mexico I can even remember where they were made.

Computer Glasses

Apparently it was a birthday present from a friend who said, "I'm sure you'll use it for work."

It seems to be a French brand. The case is cute.

Carefully Selected Stationery

She loves stationery so much that she has a favorite stationery store.

Items from your favorite brands, gifts, etc.
If it's something you like, you'll likely take good care of it and use it for a long time.

Rather than using just anything, they seem to be trying to make work more enjoyable by collecting things they like.
"I feel more excited when I use things I like," he said quietly.

After the interview

I think each person's personality was reflected in their desk more than I expected.
The area around the desk is deep!
You wouldn't notice it when you're just going about your normal work, but talking about what's on your desk could be a good way to become closer, discover an unexpected hobby, or even provide hints for future communication.

After the interview, my desk changed!

Before

After

Improvement 1 Keyboard

When I was shown Mr. Kanno's desk, I was vaguely thinking about how I would like to make it look cool by replacing the keyboard with a Mac, and then by chance, Mr. Nakagawa gave it to me. Yay!

While I was writing this article, I suddenly got a message on the company chatwork. I responded immediately and got the message.

Improvement point 2 Yellow pen holder

Inspired by Haga-san's love of stationery, I decided to put more effort into it, so I found a cute pen holder and bought it. I will treasure it.

I would like to continue making improvements so that I can look forward to coming to my workplace. I will continue to come up with new ideas to make work more comfortable and enjoyable.
