Hello. This is Hamabata from the Creative Department.
This time we will introduce the annual Monosus cherry blossom viewing event that was held on Thursday, April 7th.
Monosus's cherry blossom viewing committee is formed, and every year, a unique cherry blossom viewing is planned. This year's venue is " Honke Fukagawa Meshi Kappo Miyako ", which was founded in 1924. By the way, I was on the cherry blossom viewing committee last year and planned the Sumida River cruise and on-board barbecue.
Well, I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of cherry blossom viewing we'll have this year.
Let's go!
The cherry blossom viewing began with an unexpected side of the host...

At 6 p.m., Monosus employees piled into the chartered bus arranged by the cherry blossom viewing committee.
On the bus, Mr. Sugano from the Coding Factory Division of the Cherry Blossom Viewing Committee explained the concept of this event and the flow of the cherry blossom viewing event.
What was surprising was that Kanno, who has a rather taciturn image, was unexpectedly talkative, and the talk that was originally scheduled for about 5 minutes somehow ended up being 30 minutes. Kanno shared "stories with 9 people in the company that he is grateful to and respects," including impersonations of those people, making everyone laugh. In the middle of the talk, it was revealed that Kanno's sister is a radio DJ, and the conversation was so light-hearted that it was easy to see why they were such good talkers, even though they were siblings.

Kanno was actually quite talkative. Look at that lively expression!

The bus was filled with a relaxed atmosphere thanks to Kanno's talk.
While listening to Kanno's talk, we arrived at our destination in no time.

When I got off the bus, cherry blossom petals were falling in the air.

The venue, Kappo Miyako, is a restaurant with a nice atmosphere.
cheers!
Cherry blossom viewing begins
When we arrived at the restaurant, we sat down in predetermined teams (6-7 people) and immediately had a toast! Old-timers, new members who joined in the spring, and people from different departments all got together and enjoyed chatting enthusiastically.

Cheers! The moment we've been waiting for.

Fukagawa meshi, cooked fluffy in clam broth, is a dish that can only be found at this long-established Japanese restaurant.

And then there's Director Sakuyama, gobbling down the food with gusto.

Delicious food and drinks will make for lively conversation.

Kagawa from the creative department drinks too much and soon becomes sleepy.
Team competition, unexpected side game
Just as the mood was getting more and more lively, Sugano appeared dressed in a costume inspired by the comedy show Shoten. The highlight of this cherry blossom viewing event was a team-based memory game.

Kanno looks surprisingly good in the costume.
This game was planned based on the concept of "relationships can continue by discovering unexpected sides of someone," based on Kanno's own experience.
1) The first person introduces themselves, telling an unexpected side of themselves and their name.
"Actually, I'm A who is ____."
2) The second person repeats the previous person's self-introduction and then gives their own.
"The person next to A, who is actually XXX, is B, who is actually XXX."
3) The third person repeats the self-introductions of the first and second people, then introduces himself/herself.
"C, who is actually XXX, is next to B, who is actually XXX, who is actually XXX." ... and so on, up to the sixth person.
In this way, after repeating the names and surprising aspects of all the people before you, you have to introduce yourself. Each team competes for the fastest time to finish.

The team lined up in a row, like a comedy show.

I can't help but be amazed at the unexpected aspects that are revealed one after another.

In fact, the two are Tatsuta, the intimidating head of the marketing department who decorates his house with flowers, and Kojima from the coding factory who can't contain his laughter.

Everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun revealing unexpected sides of themselves.
As the game began, one unexpected side of themselves was revealed, such as, "Actually, he was a former gyaru guy," "Actually, he was a former glamour model," "Actually, he was a former professional surfer," "Actually, he was the US Taekwondo champion for three consecutive years," "Actually, he has an ancestor who is legendary for being a cannibal," "Actually, he's dating someone from work," and so on. These were aspects of themselves that were unimaginable given their current situation, as well as stories that could never be told in public, making for a fun and laughter-filled meeting from start to finish.
Monosus currently has about 70 staff members, and there are many people who do not speak to each other on a daily basis. That is why I think that company events like this are the first step in opening up to each other as coworkers. From colleagues to friends who are connected. I hope to continue to get to know the Monosus people slowly and without rushing.
