A scene from Monoshock #11
From Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture

This section features daily snapshots from various Monosus locations. This time, we'll share a recent scene from Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, in September, via Machitaku Yanai.

This morning, on my way to work at Machitaku Yanai, I was surprised to see that all the goldfish lanterns along the white-walled streets had turned blue, and I rubbed my eyes in shock.

September 23rd is the "International Day of Sign Languages," and blue light-up events are being held all over the world. In Japan, the "Let's Shine Blue Light on Sign Languages! A Challenge Project to Unite Citizens, Communities, and Society 2026" is also being implemented.

Yanai City is also participating in this project.
From September 16th to 24th, the city will be decorated with blue Yanai goldfish lanterns and illuminated at night. https://www.city-yanai.jp/soshiki/20/syuwagengonokokusaide-.html

So that's what the blue goldfish lanterns meant.
You may have noticed blue light in your neighborhood over the past few days.
