Hello, my name is Kurihara and I am the leader of the creative department's operations team.
Starting this July, I moved my work base from Yoyogi, Tokyo to Kamiyama-cho, Tokushima Prefecture.
He serves as the principal of Kamiyama Monosasu School and the leader of operational tasks.
This time, I would like to talk about my experiences living in Kamiyama, a place far from Tokyo.
I thought that if I could apply this knowledge to my operations, I could do a better job than I am now.
I will write an article.
First, what I felt about living in Kamiyama.
I've been living in Kamiyama for just over three months now.
I live a completely different life than I do in Tokyo.
The biggest difference is that the number of times I interact with people outside of work during my daily life has definitely increased.
- When I leave the house in the morning, I say hello to the mothers in my neighborhood.
Receive something after a conversation. - I had a quick chat with an older woman near the satellite office.
- I had a quick chat with a pilgrim on his way to the 48 temples.
- I bumped into the landlord of the house I was renting in town and we had a quick chat.
When I got home, I met my landlord again, who happened to be there.
I chatted with the mother from upstairs and received some tea.
Action → Meeting people → Talking casually → Action → Meeting people → Talking casually
I repeat this every day.
During lunch break, I eat the steamed sweet potatoes that I received that morning.
We talked about things we don't usually hear, like old stories about Kamiyama and the weather.
There are many people who are happy to talk to me about anything, such as what happened yesterday or what is bothering them.
I'm having a fun conversation.
As an aside,
On holidays, I wake up in the morning and just drop by to say hello. They give me breakfast.
We spent two hours listening to stories about unusual incidents, and then suddenly we helped out with the harvest of sudachi.
Because you can't tell the time at all,
I try to do things quickly and make time for conversation.
Through repeated conversations, the true meaning becomes apparent.
What did I feel during that kind of life?
It may seem like a very obvious thing, but I think conversation is important.
By repeating the conversation, you can understand the person better.
You will begin to see many things that were previously invisible.
Even though we are just having casual conversations, by having various conversations, we can find out what the other person is thinking, what they like and dislike, what is troubling them,
You will hear the true voice of your heart.
for example,
The conversation will turn to sudachi citrus, which may lead to the words "It's almost harvest season," and then the child may answer "Do you have any sudachi fields?", to which you can then go and pick them for them, if your child responds "Yes, but my back hurts so I can't pick them very well."
By having a conversation with someone who is not good at IT, such as "I bought a smartphone,"
"What do you use it for?" "A phone." And so the conversation began.
You can teach them how to use it by saying, "Oh, you can do this too."
In this way, the true meaning becomes apparent through conversation.
Only by facing the other person and having a proper conversation can you
I think you will begin to see what you really want to do, what is troubling you, and what you want to do.
At that time, what is the other person struggling with or needing help with?
That seems like an easy thing to solve for me.
On the other hand, they cooked delicious meals for me,
Sometimes I ask them to hang out the futon or take care of things around the house.
While I was being helped with things I couldn't do myself and things I was having trouble with,
I'm somehow managing to make a living.
Take a step further to become a webmaster.
Whatever can be done should be done by those who are good at it and can do it.
We live in an environment where this happens naturally.
It's the same at work. When there's something you can't do or something that's bothering you,
It is only possible for people who are good at it and can do it.
I think that's just the way the job is supposed to work.
Even if we were to replace it with our operations team,
- There are things I want to do on the web, but I don't know how to update them.
- I don't know how to operate a website.
For such people, we will utilize our skills and know-how in website operation to
My job is to support clients and manage the day-to-day operations.
The operation work basically involves publishing new information for one website,
We will continue to work with you to continually improve your website.
Unlike renovation projects, this is not something that will be completed in a short period of time.
You will have frequent contact with customers and many opportunities to meet and talk with them.
Meanwhile, looking back at the past,
I feel like I was doing this without really paying much attention to the conversation.
Even in a casual conversation, by asking another question,
You may be able to see the other person's true nature.
By naturally doing this catch-up with clients,
I think we can build a better relationship and have a long-term relationship.
"Is there anything you're having trouble with right now?"
"Is there anything you want to do?"
Rather than ending with the answers to these questions,
Why is it a problem, and why do you want to do it?
By listening to the background and circumstances of their thoughts,
It helps you notice things that the other person is not aware of and helps you organize your thoughts.
In addition, because you can create something after understanding the essence of the matter,
This will allow you to produce output that is essentially satisfactory.
In this article, I have written about obvious things as if they were obvious,
It was also an area where I myself had become less aware of it.
What is important to become a more reliable webmaster?
I feel like I have been able to re-examine this through living in Kamiyama.
There are only three months left of the "Kamiyama Monosasu School".
I would like to continue living in Kamiyama, keeping my eyes peeled for new discoveries.
