2015.11.06 | TOPICS | CULTURE

Hello, this is Nakaniwa, the editor-in-chief of Monosasu.
Today is Monosus' 11th anniversary founding party!

Once a year, we gather around the table to enjoy a delicious meal at Monosas.
I would like to express my gratitude and talk about the future.

With this in mind, we are holding a founding anniversary party, inviting all of our clients and partners with whom we have done business.

In fact, this website has also overcome many hardships and reopened just in time for this special occasion.

We would like to share this auspicious day with you all in real time as much as possible!
So, this time I'd like to give you a live report on the party, from preparation to hosting.

The password is "Itadakimasu!"
The title of this year's party is "Monosasu Dining Night"

The title of this year's party is "Monosasu Dining Table Night."
We want our customers and Monosus members to enjoy meals and conversations as if they were sitting around a dinner table.
This title was chosen with this thought in mind.

By the way, is there anyone who is confused by the spelling of "monosasu" in the title?
Our company name is written in katakana as "monosus" or in the alphabet as "monosus," so some people may be wondering about the hiragana spelling "monosasu."
The company name "Monosus" comes from the word "rubasashi," a tool used to measure things.
The name expresses the idea that everyone should have their own ruler, and the verb for that is "monosasu."

The title of this project uses the hiragana character "monosasu" (ruler), and it conveys the message that we want to create a dining table where people who use their own measuring sticks, including our customers, can gather together.

And in keeping with the ruler theme, we also created some fun novelty items for the party.

These are badges and stickers. I hope you'll stick the stickers on your laptop (laughs).
We also made T-shirts for our staff. I think that's a bit bold.

20151106_03.jpg
I asked Hachi (Hatayama) from the sales department, who was passing by, to try it on.

Is getting ready fun or painful?
The night before the party is a struggle.

The night before the party, the kitchen was packed with meat and vegetables, creating the calm before the storm.
Just after 8pm, when CEO Hayashi and staff member Furuhat entered the kitchen, it turned into a fighting zone, just like a ring.

20151106_04.jpg
As Hayashi stares at the meat, his eyes are filled with such fighting spirit that it's hard to even speak to him.

So, what kind of dishes will we be able to make? Look forward to it!

We now move to the main conference room, where the party organizing committee is discussing tomorrow's game.

20151106_06.jpg
They seem to be discussing various things while watching a video on a large screen. What kind of game is it?

22:00 the night before
Onogi, the head of the design department, has started printing the plates for tomorrow's blackboard production. Since it is quite large, it is being printed in sections and pasted together.
Tomorrow I will start making the annual signboard based on this. I wonder how it will turn out...

20151106_05.jpg

On the day of the party, are there any difficulties ahead? The struggle in the kitchen continues...

11:50
Following on from last night, Hayashi and Furuhat are in the kitchen.
Hayashi has started making pasta seeds.

20151106_17.jpg

After this I forgot my pasta maker at home so I had to rush back home to get it!
Will we make it in time?! I have a potato peeling contest coming up...

Meanwhile, Furuhata, the unsung hero of the party, is peeling bright red tomatoes and simmering them to make tomato sauce. It looks like he's having a lot of fun.

During the preparations, many people came. It was like a human crossroads.

12:50
We were visited by Hidekazu Suga, owner of citrusfarms Tatemichiya, from Ikuchijima Island in Onomichi.

20151106_07.jpg

Suga-san said, "I'm in the green car, I'm wearing green clothes, and I brought green things." He brought lemon tree branches for decoration, and lemons and limes for eating.
Suga's lemons are grown without any pesticides and you can eat them with the skin on!

14:30
While we were preparing for the party, Shinya Ominami (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NPO Green Valley in Kamiyama, Tokushima Prefecture, and a key figure in the revitalization of the Kamiyama town) visited us!
Following behind, Mr. Kidoin, the representative of Relation Co., Ltd. , which is engaged in regional management and real estate management in Tokushima Prefecture, and his staff member Mr. Sugi also arrived, and the atmosphere was instantly like Kamiyama. Everyone is so busy that they are always running around somewhere, so it was a strange sight to see them all gathered in such a pinpoint location in Yoyogi, Tokyo!
The company's representative, Hayashi, and the head of the production department, Manabe, who lives in Kamiyama, also joined us for a commemorative photo.

Avocado trees are also lit up!
The party mood spreads instantly.

16:30
By stringing cords around the avocado trees and the roof, a curtain of lights was created in the sky above the courtyard. It was so magical, I was mesmerized...
Suddenly, a party mood spreads and the staff's enthusiasm rises!

The setup has begun.
It's a great migration of peoples.

The main venue is usually where everyone works. There are PCs, documents, and chairs. All of this has to be moved at once to make space. Everyone has to move around with their own belongings.

20151106_19.jpg

On the other hand, the pasta group was in a state of chaos. They just kept kneading and kneading in silence. This is what it means to be completely focused.

20151106_20.jpg

Unaware of the chaotic situation, Hachi (Hatayama), a sales representative from the sales department, turns up once again with a lovely bouquet of flowers for decoration.

So, here's the record of what happened after the party.
I was so happy to meet everyone that I wasn't able to keep up with the report, but there are still plenty of fun things to record from the party, so I'll keep reporting on them!

A spectacular food competition with special chefs.

Our company's president, Hayashi, loves cooking, so he has been showing off his skills every year, but as the event has gradually grown in scale, this year we invited some special chefs to add even more color to the dinner table. We would like to introduce the chefs to you. (Hayashi is still actively cooking.)

The first guest was Shinichiro Harakawa, the owner and chef of BEARD in Meguro. BEARD was chosen as the number one restaurant in 2015 by the global information magazine MONOCLE. The grilled lamb and vegetable skewers, pork, and chicken were all so delicious that there was a constant line in front of the grill during the party.

The second guest was the chef of the Tansui Laboratory , who runs a Japanese restaurant in Yoyogi. This was his second visit since last year. Tansui Laboratory serves delicious fish dishes, and is a favorite restaurant of our president, Hayashi. He also often hosts welcome parties for the club. On this day, he prepared luxurious dishes that are hard to find in everyday life, such as ponzu-flavored ankimo (monkfish liver), sushi roll, and fried pufferfish.

20151106_24.jpg
Chef Tansui Kenkyuujo's Ichi-inch-and-a-half chef arranges the monkfish liver with deft skill.

The third person was Keiko Hosoi, who develops sweets at DEAN & DELUCA . Hosoi participated again this year, following on from last year. She served delicious, heartwarming dishes such as her mushroom pie and blue cheese and apple pie, and supported the kitchen all the time.

20151106_23.jpg
Mr. Hosoi is serving apple pie. He works in perfect harmony with our staff.

The fourth person is Go-san, also known as the owner of bar dAZE , who provides catering for our company cafeteria two days a week. This time, Go-san helped out as a bartender. He usually dresses casually when he serves hotpot for the cafeteria, so I was surprised to see him in a very smart bartender outfit, which gave off a completely different vibe!
Go's shop is a bar for a great night out, and this is what he looks like in his professional uniform. So cool!

20151106_25.jpg

By the way, they all took the day off from their own shops to come, right in the middle of busy Friday night shopping season.
I am truly humbled, thank you so much!!

It's time for a toast.
The venue was packed!

19:30
As guests continued to arrive at the venue, it was finally time for the show to begin.
After Hayashi's greeting, today's menu, and an introduction of the chefs, it's time for a toast!

20151106_26.jpg

20151106_27.jpg

After this, we enjoyed the food and drinks for a while. The smell of barbecue was good in the courtyard. The line never stopped. Serving the food was also very busy.

20151106_28.jpg

The monkfish liver ponzu sauce from Chef Tansui is delicious and melts in your mouth! It disappeared in no time.

20151106_33.jpg

20:30
After the conversation and meal, there was a game tournament. This year's main MC was Kitajima, also known as SUV (sub) from the Creative Business Division, as in previous years. As expected of someone who also works as a professional event MC, he had a great way of speaking and livened up the atmosphere.

20151106_30.jpg

For the game we used a multiple choice quiz app called Kahoot .
This time I used it on a smartphone, but it's so intuitive and fun to use that it's apparently starting to be used in classes in elementary and junior high schools in the United States.
To decide the teams, guests were asked to hold a badge of "mono", "no", "sa" or "su" that they had chosen in advance when they entered the venue, and form groups of four with "mono sasu" as the name. One staff member joined each group, and the game was played by five people on each team.

The quiz covered topics such as Kamiyama in Tokushima Prefecture, which has a connection to our company, Monosasty, where we recently moved to, and popular lunch restaurants chosen by those of us who work in Yoyogi.
In this quiz, participants are judged not only on whether their answer is correct or not, but also on how quickly they can choose the correct answer. As soon as the question is announced, the team that knows the answer taps the app screen repeatedly.

20151106_31.jpg

The top seven teams were awarded meal vouchers for BEARD, Freshwater Laboratory, and Bar DAZE, as well as organic lemons from Suga, a complete set of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (Tormekian War Version) (recommended by Hayashi), and a Monosassu T-shirt.

20151106_35.jpg
Mr. Kidoin from Relations got the Monosassu T-shirt. Thank you so much for being so happy!

Everyone who came to the party,
Thank you very much!!

20151106_29.jpg

The venue was fully booked until the very end, and we would like to thank all of our guests for attending!
We all enjoyed delicious food, fun conversation, and exciting games. Our staff also joined in the fun.

We hope that at next year's anniversary party we will be able to gather around the dinner table and enjoy a meal together again.
