Happy new year

2018 was a turbulent year for Monosus.
It felt like it was packed with both good and bad things, more than anything I've ever experienced before.

If you write without looking good,
It's been a very tough year for me as a business owner.
I'm sure it was the same for the other members too.

Although it is difficult, it is a little different from a typical corporate crisis.

Monosus, now in its 15th year,
I believe that they are questioning their identity, just as any 15-year-old human boy or girl would.

The company's identity is
The first thing that comes to mind is the vision put forward by the management.

But he set out a strong vision,
It is not our culture to push a team that has become steeped in a monoculture.
I've never done that before,
I don't think I'll ever do that again.

In a word, "having your own standards"
How can we make something tangible and tangible, rather than just an expression?
I think that is the thing we are being forced to confront.

You can borrow a ruler from someone else,
Measuring things can only be done in the first person.
No matter how small it may be, try entrusting your own standards to the world.
We are not yet a group with that courage.

Companies are expected to be economically rational as a means of generating money, but we live in an age where there are more efficient ways to make a lot of money.

Economic rationality and aesthetics.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately,
"This is the one point I won't compromise on, regardless of money."
To run a company without any aesthetic sense like that is
In fact, it may be very difficult.
At least for me it's very difficult.

First comes the commitment of your life,
How to incorporate economic rationality into this?
This is where business ability is put to the test.
Economic rationality does not come first.

Because what you do for a living, where you live,
We are probably the first people in the world to have this much freedom in who we spend time with.
And yet, I feel it is a waste to give economic rationality, which means not going hungry, such a high priority.

Economic rationality and aesthetics, freedom and responsibility.
These are very difficult to deal with,
I am beginning to confront this issue,
Surely we Monosas are not alone.

Many companies and people are starting to address this issue.
It's quiet, but I feel like it's a very strong swell.

As a member of the team facing this wave,
Together with me, the Monosus members, and all of you who are important to us,
I hope 2019 will be a great year.

I hope that this year will be a very important year, not just the year before 2020.
