Enjoy soft serve ice cream at a farm in Tokyo!
~Sendagaya LAITIER~

"I want some dessert. What would you like?"
"Soft serve ice cream is great!!"

- It sounds like a conversation between a parent and child, but this is me and a friend.
No matter how much rice you eat, there will always be a separate stomach for sweets.

On this day, I had lunch at Kitasando.
After being persuaded by my friend to try the soft-serve ice cream, I was looking for a store when I suddenly remembered, "I'm sure there's a soft-serve ice cream store I saw on TV nearby..." So my friend and I headed straight for the store, nearly falling over.

The shop is located about a 10-minute walk from Kitasando Station on the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line towards Sendagaya.
You can also walk from Sendagaya Station on the JR Sobu Line.

By the way, this area is commonly known as "Dagayasando."
Located just a short walk from the National Stadium, which will be the main venue for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it has been featured on television and in magazines many times, making it a popular spot in 2017!

The first thing you see when you arrive at the store is the light blue wall.
It's surrounded by residential areas so it really stands out.

And at the top is a soft serve ice cream that looks like it's about to melt.
It has a photogenic exterior that is popular these days.

Maybe the walls will melt even more in the summer? Just kidding.

My friend and I felt like we had arrived in a dream world and we couldn't stop smiling.

My friend and I both graduated from the same culinary school's pastry department and share a sweet tooth.
I am always indecisive when it comes to dessert.

I also had a really hard time choosing Lettier's soft serve ice cream.
I found myself going back and forth from the first to the last page of the many menus...

While I was talking about my holiday with my editor-in-chief, he asked me, "It's close to the office, so why don't you write an article about it?", and so I decided to write this article.
I returned at a later date to conduct an interview.

The name of the shop is LAITIER.
It means "milkman" in French.

The owner of this shop is Norio Aoki.
Lettier is run by a husband and wife team with French backgrounds.
First of all, the milk is delivered directly from his wife's family home, Omiizu Farm in Shizuoka Prefecture.
This milk has won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, known as the gold medal in the food industry, for 19 consecutive years.

Indeed, the soft serve ice cream has a rich milk flavor with a refreshing aftertaste, a taste I've never had anywhere else.

You can choose between two types: milk-based and mascarpone cheese-based.
Even though it's a generous portion, both men and women can eat it all up in no time.

Based on the concept of "soft ice cream that will satisfy adults too",
They make soft serve ice cream with carefully selected toppings and seasonal changes.

Just to name a few of the many menu items, there are a variety of adult toppings created by a French chef, such as affogato topped with Michelin-approved chocolate, three kinds of berry sauce, affogato made with home-roasted coffee, and affogato made with precious sake brewed in Tokyo.

It's over now that it's early summer, but
From winter to spring, we also have menus topped with plenty of strawberries!

The Benihoppe strawberry soft serve will have you grinning from ear to ear. It's only available for a limited time.

I was amazed at the amount of strawberries.
When I see this, I remember my friend having a happy look on his face the whole time, as if to say, "Look, look at the strawberries!"

Among the many menu items at Lettier, the most popular is the honey and three kinds of nut soft serve, inspired by the French dish nougat glacé*.

*What is nougat glacé?
A mixture of meringue and fresh cream, solidified with dried fruits and nuts.
A cold ice cream cake-like dessert.

The crunchy texture of the almonds is addictive. Mmm, it has a delicious adult taste.

The bitterness of caramelized almonds,
The pistachios and orange peel give it a sophisticated flavor.
The honey is French lavender honey!

The next most popular is the two-layered tiramisu soft serve.
I ordered this the first time I came to Lettier.

The generous amount of cocoa powder tends to fly around, so the key is to mix it while eating!

This is a mascarpone cheese base topped with rich cocoa powder.
The two coffee biscotti served on the side contain crushed coffee beans, and the coffee flavor hits you instantly when you bite into it.
It's so delicious that I think I'll get addicted to it.

By the way, they serve matcha soft serve ice cream in summer and Mont Blanc soft serve ice cream in autumn.
My husband is currently working on making a prototype!

In addition to soft serve ice cream, they also serve home-roasted coffee and desserts such as homemade pudding.
The menu is extensive, including galettes made with brown rice flour.
The white sauce used in the galettes is, of course, handmade using milk from Omi Izu Farm.

From simple pudding to strawberry milk pudding, pudding a la mode... There's even coffee jelly to put on top of soft serve ice cream!

Next time I come to Lettier, I'd like to try some galettes and coffee along with the soft serve ice cream!

"There aren't many shops or people around here, but
"Customers come to the store" rather than "just stopping by while passing by"
I wanted to make it a store.”

" says Aoki.
That's why many people come from far away to experience Lettier's cuisine.

Lettier is full of charm and milk from every corner of the store.
When and what should I eat next?
