Hello. This is Iwaki from the Kamiyama Monosasu Juku office.
With the arrival of summer, this year's Kamiyama Monosasu School has finally begun.
This time, we would like to report on the first day, which was an action-packed day from the entrance ceremony to the social gathering.
Aim to be a front-end engineer!
Kamiyama Monosasu Juku is now in its third year. In the first term, students learned "coding", and in the second term, they learned "coding" and "web writing". In the third term, students will spend six months learning a wide range of skills to become a "front-end engineer".
Ten students gathered in Kamiyama with dreams of becoming engineers. They came from all over the country, with diverse backgrounds and jobs. For the first month, they will all live together, study hard, play hard, and compete with each other as they work towards graduating in December.
Entrance ceremony. This year's self-introduction competition
At the Kamiyama Town Rural Environment Improvement Center. Thank you for your help this year too!
Ito is the principal for the third term and is full of enthusiasm.
The entrance ceremony was held in a conference room at the Kamiyama Town Rural Environment Improvement Center, which I will be attending every day from now on. The school's director, Ito, the representative, Hayashi, the members of the Kamiyama satellite office, and guests including Takeuchi-san and Ito-san from the NPO Green Valley also attended.
Following greetings from Headmaster Ito and CEO Hayashi, and heartfelt messages from the two guests, the annual (?) self-introduction session took place for everyone, including Monosus members and students. Seniors from the Kamiyama satellite office, including four last year's graduates, imparted information on how to live and enjoy life in Kamiyama, creating a lively atmosphere. The nervous students gradually relaxed as they were teased and laughed during the self-introduction session. The entrance ceremony ended without a hitch, surrounded by a homely atmosphere.
The students were all smiles, their tension gone. The Monosus members and guests in the background really livened things up!
Five messages to students
After the entrance ceremony, we had an orientation lecture led by Representative Hayashi.
The lecture proceeded with everyone gathering in a circle in a relaxed atmosphere, with Hayashi giving a talk in the first half and answering questions from the students in the second half.
Among them, here are Hayashi's "five words of encouragement to students."
- First, open it.
- Be flexible, but be yourself.
- Don't rush into the future, but work hard now.
- It's always you who changes.
- Live together.
By the way, these "Five Words" are apparently in beta version. Maybe they will continue to evolve...?
The students took Hayashi's words to heart. During the question time in the second half, all the students asked various questions, and as they answered carefully, sometimes pondering and sometimes laughing, the time flew by.
The social gathering will be held at Kamaya
Finally, it was time for the long-awaited social gathering. We moved to Kamaya, a restaurant run by the Food Hub Project. Everyone was excited about the delicious food, which was made with plenty of local ingredients. After a toast from Hayashi, we all started eating. With the drinks flowing, the lively and lively time began.
Congratulations from everyone at the Food Hub.
All of the dishes at Kamaya are delicious. Some students asked the head chef, Mr. Hosoi, how they were made.
For the main dish, a whole roasted "Awa Sudachi Chicken" appeared. The important task of carving it was left to the students. Three students who bravely raised their hands cut the whole Sudachi Chicken under the guidance of Chef Hosoi.
The students were very interested in Hosoi's (right) explanation that this was thigh meat, this was breast meat.
With everyone watching, they successfully cut up the "Sudachi Chicken". Is this also an experience unique to Kamiyama?
Along the way, members of the Food Hub Project showed up to send congratulatory messages. The students received many words of welcome from Monosus members and the people of Kamiyama, and it seemed that their concerns about life in Kamiyama were allayed.
As the night progresses, the students become more and more excited, but lectures will begin tomorrow morning.
The fun social gathering came to a close with closing remarks from Headmaster Ito.
Thus, the first day of the Kamiyama Monosasu Juku ended without any problems.
Now, this is where the students' challenge begins. What will they feel, what will they learn, and how will they change as they live their days in Kamiyama while aiming to become front-end engineers? I hope to be able to share this story in their own words again this year. Please look forward to it!
