MONOSUS
ICECREAMING MAG

This month's MVP is:
Kanno Makoto, the great organizer who made the cherry blossom viewing a success.

Hello. I am Onogi, the head of the design department.
Monosus' "MVP of the Month" is basically selected from among the staff recommended by each department manager (in my case, I recommended a member of the design department).
However, this time we decided to recommend Sugano from another department, the Coding Factory, and he was awarded the MVP!

The reason for this was that the organizer of the cherry blossom viewing party was amazing.

Kanno sits on a zabuton and explains the game, including a demonstration. He looks great in his yukata robes.

The event was a success, and his performance made it even more exciting. For details about the cherry blossom viewing, please refer to this article, but I would like to share my thoughts on why I recommended him as MVP.

The project started with the mentor system

The concept of this year's cherry blossom viewing was "Relationships continue by learning unexpected sides." The main plan was a memory game in which participants were divided into teams and introduced themselves by saying something like "Actually, I'm A who is ____.", and then repeated the self-introductions of the people before them.

The idea for this project seems to have been inspired by the mentor system implemented at Monosus. The mentor system pairs a mentor (senior employee) with a mentor (junior employee) and the mentor meets once a month to provide advice on work and personal matters, with the aim of maintaining the mentor's motivation and building relationships. Simply put, it is a system that builds a spiritual master-disciple relationship and increases retention rates at the company.

Until last year, this mentor and mentor relationship was between me, Onogi, and Sugano.
Even before he became my mentor, I had a high regard for Kanno's perfect work, speed, and flexibility. I remember being very happy to be paired with him in the mentoring program.
Through this program, he realizes that by learning unexpected sides to each other with each passing session, the distance between them grows closer.

Now, inspired by this experience, the "Team Memory Game" project was born.

The venue where the game was played was a storm of "unexpected sides" of the members, which could be said to be revelations. It goes without saying that the cherry blossom viewing was a huge success and brought the members much closer together.

They sit on cushions in a ogiri style. One after another, "unexpected aspects" are revealed, exciting the audience.

The deciding factor in winning the MVP award was the determination to see things through

Monosus also puts effort into events, DIY, and other things outside of work. That is one of the characteristics of Monosus, but to be honest, he was not the type to actively attend events. I think it was also due to his sense of balance, wanting to value both work and private life.
This was the decision he made when he was appointed secretary.
That is,

"If I'm going to do it, I'll see it through to the end!"

That is it.

Being the organizer can be fun, but it takes up a lot of time, so it's normal to feel a little reluctant. But he was determined to see it through to the end.
And he did it to the end, with great success.

Seeing him like that, I thought to myself, there is no one else but him who can be the MVP!

For me, Shin Kanno is someone I truly want to continue watching and being inspired by. I hope he will continue to do his best as a wonderful member of Monosus!

Comments on receiving MVP award

Thank you MVP.
I had a feeling that I messed up a lot in April, so I was a little, just a little, thinking that maybe I'd get an MVP, but I never expected to get a recommendation from Onogi-san!

As for the cherry blossom viewing, I simply had to take a prominent role, and it was the result of the work of the three organizers, and I also think it was thanks to the excitement created by everyone who participated.
I once again realized how lucky I am to be able to work with such interesting people.

And above all, I am very happy about Onogi-san's comment.
As a professional, I aspire to be like Onogi-san. This is true!
Although we are designers and coders, our professions are different, I truly respect Onogi's approach to his work.
Seeing him pursue his work and design with more greed than anyone else inspires me and makes me think, "I can't let myself lose!"
I would like to become a cool person like him, and I hope that one day I can catch up with Onogi-san and work with him.
I look forward to working with you in the future! Thank you very much.

Shin Kanno
