Nice to meet you. I'm Yoshikazu Motoki, who belongs to Monosas' headquarters. I was asked by the Monosas site office to write an article introducing myself, and I eagerly accepted the offer, and it's been half a year since then. It's taken me a long time to write it, and it's been almost a year since I joined the company, but I'd like to introduce myself.

I joined Monosus in June 2024. The circumstances that led to me joining the company were unexpected. At first, I was applying for a job in a different department from headquarters, so I had no intention of joining the headquarters. However, I was eventually offered the opportunity to join headquarters, and I took it, which is how I got to where I am today. Now I'm really glad that I joined headquarters. I'll explain why at the end.
The roots are in temples
I don't know much about the origins of my surname Motoki, but my name Yoshikazu was given to me by a temple. It's the combination of the good and the bad, and the harmony of peace. I think it's a good name. It's a difficult name to pronounce, so only a few of my friends call me "Yoshikazu."
The nickname he got in his school days is "Mokki," which is what his friends call him most often. As soon as he joined Monosus, his boss, Mr. Sakuyama, gave him the nickname "Moto King." What a simple nickname, it sounds like something an elementary school kid would come up with.
Many of the Monosus members shortened it to "King," but the only ones who called me that were older than me, so I didn't know whether to be happy about being called King. At first, I didn't like it, but now I like it because everyone calls me that with affection.
However, my former boss, Mr. Okubo, now shortens it even further and calls me "Ngu." The original form is no longer there.
Citizens longing for the city
I was born in Yamanashi and grew up in Tokyo. Although I live in Tokyo, I grew up in a rural town called Musashimurayama, which is the only city in the city that does not have a train station. So, like people living in the countryside, I spent my student days yearning for the big city of Tokyo.
Unfortunately, there is nothing particularly noteworthy about Musashimurayama City, but it is a place where I feel at peace because it is where my parents' house is, I have local friends, and there are many places that hold special memories for me.
This is fine
My personality (or strengths) are naturally sociable, creative, and optimistic. Since I was a child, I have been able to communicate with anyone without discrimination, I am always thinking about how to make the situation more funny, and even if something inconvenient happens to me, I always think, "Oh well, it's okay."
Thanks to this convenient personality, I was able to overcome many difficulties that I have faced in the past. Even when I was in a nearly fatal traffic accident that left me with physical after-effects, when I was mentally depressed after staying up all night working at the office, and when I caused trouble for others because of my incompetence, I always managed to get through it with the thought, "This is good."
Anything is fine
I don't have any hobbies in particular. In the past, I was a person with many hobbies, such as dancing, video editing, traveling, photography, muscle training, and art appreciation. I think I don't have any hobbies in particular now because I tried everything I was interested in and exhausted them in my own way (although I think there were many things that I left half-finished).
However, I'm the type of person who doesn't mind trying new things even if they don't become a hobby, so when such an opportunity arises, I make sure to give it a try right away.
We only live once, so in my current life I think that rather than doing one thing repeatedly, I would rather do a variety of things haphazardly, and the more experiences I have and the greater the total amount of realizations I gain from those experiences, the richer my life will be.
I don't have any particular hobbies, so I don't have any particular likes or dislikes, and I don't have any particular dislikes or dislikes. At one point, I realized that there is no limit to the satisfaction I can get from material things, and gradually I started to lose interest in them.
Just like with hobbies, I used to like a lot of things. I especially liked fashion and music, and I was always thinking about how to coordinate my outfits, and I listened to my favorite songs every day without getting bored. However, now I wear the same clothes almost every day, and I got rid of my earphones, so I don't even have the habit of listening to music anymore. By the way, the fashion I liked was street and mode. The music genres I often listened to were hip hop, classical, EDM, and pop (especially the 80s).
I grew up listening to Michael Jackson from a young age, and I love his songs "Bille Jean" and "Smooth Criminal" so much that I must have listened to them more than 10,000 times each. It was also because of Michael Jackson that I became interested in dancing.

Role models are hunter-gatherers
In terms of lifestyle, I try to live as primitive a life as possible. However, this does not mean that I live naked, hunt and gather to stave off hunger, or sleep in the bush. I just try to do activities that are as close to nature as possible, based on a normal social life.
I spend the night in a pitch black room with the lights off. I go to bed when I feel sleepy and don't use an alarm so that the morning sun will wake me up naturally.
I eat irregularly, about once a day, and try to choose foods that are minimally processed, meaning they are as whole as possible (I'm not vegan or abstain from processed foods at all). I tend to eat vegetables, nuts, fruit, and raw fish rather than white rice, white bread, and processed meat.
I don't use shampoo, body soap, skin care products, laundry detergent, etc. I wash almost everything that comes into contact with my skin with water.
I don't do any particular exercise, but I try to walk whenever I have the chance on a daily basis. Even if there is an escalator, I try to use the stairs, and if I'm going a few kilometers, I try to walk instead of using the train or bus. I often go for walks on my days off, and sometimes I take a detour to my destination instead of taking the shortest route. Currently, I live about a 40-minute walk from my office, so I often walk to work.
The reason why I live this way is because I want to be essentially healthy. In my opinion, essential health is the best state for humans to be in both mental and physical nature from a biological perspective (because the human brain has not evolved since prehistoric times and is not thought to be able to adapt to modern society).

Pain and happiness are two sides of the same coin
I would like to briefly introduce my philosophy. I was born into a Buddhist family and used to believe in Buddhism, but now I have no faith in anything. As a result of delving into the teachings of Buddhism in my own way, I have come to the conclusion that in the truth of Buddhism, there is no need to believe in those teachings.
Just like with likes and dislikes, I try not to be rigid when it comes to ideas and thoughts, but there are four ideas that I have been influenced by Buddhism. They are "All is suffering," "Impermanence of all things," "No self in all things," and "Nirvana is serenity." To explain them simply from my own interpretation, everything in this world is suffering, everything in this world is temporary, there is no such thing as a self in this world, and when earthly desires disappear, you can reach the state of enlightenment.
However, paradoxically, I also think that it is precisely because everything is suffering that living in this world can be so enjoyable.
Previous job was in a different industry
In my previous job, I worked in sales in the display industry (the industry that designs spaces for stores and event booths).
Although I was in sales, my duties were diverse, including planning interiors and signage, doing simple designs and planning, drawing up blueprints, creating documents such as quotations and proposals, visiting clients to give presentations, arranging for production and construction, inspecting construction sites, making construction plans, coordinating the process, managing construction, and supervising the site. I worked like a project manager, following through on the entire construction process until completion.
I handled a variety of materials and machines, and interacted with people from a variety of industries, so it was always stimulating to complete a project and then take on a new one. Although there were many challenges along the way, I think it was a very good experience.
Perhaps it was fate, but as part of my current duties I had the opportunity to visit a site that I was involved in at my previous job. I never thought the time would come when I would be able to see the space I had designed from a customer's perspective, so it was a very moving experience.
What I am doing now at Monosus
In a word, what I am doing at headquarters now is doing a variety of things. Headquarters is the department that handles general affairs, accounting, human resources, and legal affairs at Monosus.
I am mainly in charge of labor-related tasks. For example, I manage employees' attendance and process employees who enter and leave the company. I am also in charge of maintaining and managing the company building and facilities.
Shortly after joining the company, I used my DIY skills to repair a conference room door that had been broken for about 10 years. The Monosus members praised me for my great achievement, and I was happy to be able to use my skills to help Monosus. However, on the other hand, I felt like saying, "How could they have left it alone for about 10 years?" I still remember how I felt that this was a Monosus-like thing to do.
I feel that there is still room for improvement in many areas of Monosus, including the invisible parts. I would like to continue to do my best to do what I can for Monosus.
I also help run the Izakaya Monosasu events and prepare for sports day, so I have a lot of fun at work every day.
In addition to my work at headquarters, I help prepare for company trips , join Monosassu Yoriai (a working group to consider coming to the office) with people from other departments to promote initiatives to make the company a better environment, and try hiking as part of in-house training .

Despite who I am, I am able to enjoy a fulfilling work life every day thanks to the people at headquarters who accept me, the boss who guides me to do the best I can, and the Monosus members who are always kind to me.
This is the reason why I am so glad to have joined Monosus headquarters, as I mentioned at the beginning.
Thank you for reading to the end.
