Hello. This is Furuhat from the Marketing Department.
In this section, we will introduce some delicious lunch restaurants and recommended spots that we found near our Yoyogi office.
If you visit our company, please stop by the shops and spots introduced here.
This time, I would like to introduce "Shinobu," one of the few restaurants where I, a picky eater who eats small amounts and tends to leave side dishes, can leave my entire plate empty and say thank you for the meal.
After leaving JR Yoyogi Station West Exit, turn left at the scramble crossing. Continue walking down the hill for about 3 minutes until you see a signboard with the day's menu on the street. The shop is just a few steps away, turn left at the corner where the signboard is.
Shortly after our company moved to Yoyogi, I was searching for a set meal restaurant on Tabelog and found this place.
It's a 15-minute walk from the office, but when I'm in the mood for fish, it's a quick walk.
You will see the sign on your left hand side down the hill from the west exit of JR Yoyogi Station.
I check the menu signs on the street, decide roughly what I want to order, and head to the restaurant.
It is a small restaurant with two tables for four, two tables for two, and six seats at the counter.
If you're dining alone you can usually get a seat fairly quickly, but during lunchtime customers come and go one after the other, so it might be best to go a little later so you can relax.
At lunchtime the place remains almost full.
Behind the counter are two mothers, a perfect fit for the shop's name, "Shinobu."
They efficiently grill the fish, serve the rice, and handle orders one after another.
He manages the always-full floor almost single-handedly.
After a short wait, the grilled fish arrived at our table.
Wow. Just looking at this view makes me happy.
On this day, I chose red fish pickled in sake lees, which came with small bowls of cabbage dressed in bonito flakes and bean sprouts and cucumber dressed in sesame seeds.
This meal comes with pickles, rice, and miso soup and costs 1,030 yen (tax included).
The main fish dishes include Atka mackerel, salted salmon, salted mackerel, tuna belly, simmered flounder, and depending on the season, fried horse mackerel, and there seem to be at least 10 different types on offer at any given time.
Personally, I also like the fact that the rice is cooked quite firm.
This is a truly delicious fish set meal that will make you want to sit up straight and eat it.
