Half a year has passed since I came to Thailand. At the monthly meeting, we report on sales results and other things, but I have heard the closing words "Let's all work hard so that we can go on a company trip this year" several times, and I have seen everyone smile every time. This is my first company trip in Monotai, and the first in my life.
So what kind of trip will it be? The Monotai company trip is about to begin!

สำหรับดิฉัน นี่เป็นทริปบริษัทครั้งแรกที่โมโนสัสไทย และเป็นทริปบริษัทครั้งแรกในชีวิตด้วยค่ะ

Decide on destination
Five members were selected as company trip committee members. (Waan / Noo / Ploy / Fon / Akamine)
This is the rainy season in Thailand, so you need to choose a place with as little rain as possible.
Based on our experience last year in Krabi, where rain prevented us from carrying out any activities, we asked our Thai committee members to pick out several potential locations and, after much discussion, we decided on Koh Samui.

ปีที่แล้วไปจังหวัดกระบี่ แต่ฝนตกจึงไม่สามารถท ำกิจกรรมอะไรได้มากนัก ครั้งนี้จึงให้คณะกรรมการคน ไทยช่วยกันเสนอสถานที่ต่างๆ เพื่อเป็นตัวเลือก หลังจากพูดคุยปรึกษากันก็ได้ข้อสรุปที่ “เกาะสมุย” ค่ะ

How will you spend your 3-day, 2-night trip?
ทริป 3 วัน 2 คืน จะทำอะไรกันดี?
This is where the company trip committee's skills really came into play. How can we all have fun for three days? We decided everything from arranging tickets to choosing hotels and activities to do on Koh Samui. Room allocation was decided by drawing lots, with a mix of Thai and Japanese guests. There was also a rule that interpreters and Japanese guests could not share a room! Also, since there was no guarantee that it would not rain, we prepared a plan for a rainy day. We also had to fit all of this within our budget. And here is the resulting timetable.

นอกจากนี้ก็ต้องเตรีย มแผนในกรณีที่ฝนตกด้วย ทั้งหมดจะต้องไม่เกินงบ และในที่สุดก็ได้กำหน ดการเดินทางตามนี้ค่ะ

Where is Koh Samui?

A total of 18 employees went on a company trip for three days from July 28th to 30th. It takes 4.5 hours to get to Koh Samui. (※There are also direct flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui.)

First, we head from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, which faces the Gulf of Thailand. เราต้องเดินทางจากกรุงเทพไปจังหวัดนครศ รีธรรมราชซึ่งอยู่ติดกับทะเลอ่าวไทยก่อน
Travel by van from the airport to the port and then take the ferry to Koh Samui.
หลังจากนั้นก็นั่งรถตู้ เดินทางจากสนามบินไปท่าเ รือเพื่อขึ้นเรือเฟอร์ร ี่ข้ามฝั่งไปยังเกาะสมุย

Despite the early gathering time of 8am, everyone departed safely without any delays.
Those who lived far from the airport stayed at their relatives' houses the night before, and those who lived nearby shared a taxi, so everyone arrived early enough to have time to have breakfast at the airport. Unfortunately, Takki, also known as Rui Takizuka, was unable to join us this time because he was returning to Japan temporarily, but Tae (far left in the photo), who had just joined the company, joined us at short notice.

We arrived at Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport. The airport had a local feel to it and we were greeted by blue skies.

We transferred to a van at the airport and headed to the port. Everyone was chatting happily on the way.

We arrived at the port. We headed to Koh Samui on the small boat you can see in the background.

I was so drunk that I could barely see the emerald green ocean (lol)

Finally, we arrived at the hotel. After a late lunch, we took a short break.
ในที่สุดก็ถึงโรงแรมเสียที หลังจากรับประทานอาหารกลางวัน (ที่ค่อนข้างจะสาย) ที่โรงแรมเรียบร้อยแล้ว ทุกคนก็แยกย้ายกันไปพักผ่อน

Features of Koh Samui
My first impression of Koh Samui is that there are a lot of Western tourists. I don't see many Thai or Japanese tourists either. The lined up hotels are typical of resorts, and the scenery is like a picture of a tropical resort. It's the perfect place for those who want to enjoy a resort experience rather than a simple one. Another characteristic is that many of the people working on Koh Samui come from neighboring countries such as Myanmar and Malaysia, which are close to the border.
After arriving and relaxing, we headed to the night market, which is open every day. We strolled through the market before heading to the restaurant.

The joy of sharing delicious food with everyone is universal. Even after the party has ended, some people stay behind to go to the after-party, just like in Japan.
Tomorrow is the main event, island hopping. We don't have to worry about getting to bed early today because everyone is so energetic! We go to bed while communicating in Thai and English with the group members who were assigned to our rooms.

Despite the alcohol we had drunk the previous day, everyone gathered for breakfast at 7am. Learning from the experience of the boat ride yesterday, we took motion sickness medication an hour before boarding and set off for the port. The company trip committee members had brought enough motion sickness medication for everyone, assuming that we would get drunk!
ทั้งๆ ที่เมื่อวานหลายคนดื่มเหล้าไป แต่วันนี้ทุกคนกลับตื่นมาทานอาหารเช้าตอน 7 โมงอย่างพร้อมหน้าพร้อมตาค่ะ 1 ชั่วโมงเพราะเข็ดจากการเม าเรือตอนเดินทางมาเมื่อวาน หลังจากนั้นก็ออกเดินทางไปยังท่าเรือค่ะ คณะกรรมการเตรียมยาแก้เ มาไว้พร้อมสำหรับทุกคน!
Before leaving, we took a group photo at the hotel. We were already wearing swimsuits.

This island tour mainly involves snorkeling around two islands (Koh Nangyuan and Koh Tao) on a speedboat. Speedboats seem like they're cutting through the wind, so it sounds like a lot of fun.
ทัวร์ที่เราไปครั้งนี้เป็นทัว ร์นั่งเรือสปีดโบทไปเกาะหลักๆ 2. (เกาะนางยวน, เกาะเต่า) และจะได้ดำน้ำตื้นด้วยค่ะ เรือสปีดโบทน่าจะเร็วมาก ท่าทางน่าสนุกนะคะ
The seats were full because we shared the boat with other passengers. Even the outside seats were packed. As soon as we departed, we started moving at an incredible speed. The boat rocked up and down, and each time it did so, we felt the impact from the hull. It felt like my hat was going to fly off and I could barely drink the water. If I didn't hold on to something like Bird (third from the right), I would have been thrown out.
เนื่องจากมีลูกค้าคนอื่นๆ โดยสารไปด้วยที่นั่งก็เลยเต็ม ที่นั่งด้านนอกก็แทบจะไม่พอค่ะ เรือแล่นเร็วมากๆ เรือสั่นสะเทือนขึ้นลงๆ จนรู้สึกถึงแรงกระแทกที่ตัวเรือ หมวกแทบปลิว จะดื่มน้ำก็ดื่มไม่ได้ค่ะ อย่างเบิร์ด (คนที่ 3 จากขวามือ) ถ้าไม่จับอะไรไว้ก็คงกระเด็นออกไปแน่นอน
At first, everyone was screaming at the momentum, but this situation continued for over an hour until we reached Koh Nangyuan. And by the time we arrived (upper right photo), no one was talking. Joy (far right) was quite drunk and exhausted.
ช่วงๆ แรกทุกคนก็ตื่นเต้นกันดีอยู่หรอก 1 ชั่วโมง 1 ชั่วโมงค่ะ พอไปถึง… (ภาพขวามือ ด้านบน) ทุกคนเริ่มไม่คุยกันแล้วค่ะ จอย เมาเรือจนหมดแรงไปแล้ว
We arrived at Koh Nangyuan. We crossed the pier and entered the island. At this time, the tour guide warned us not to bring plastic bottles onto the island. When entering the island, the contents of our bags are checked to prevent littering. By the way, the entrance fee to the island is different for Thai people and foreigners, so the receptionist asked us if we were Thai (Khon Thai?). As a Japanese person, I answered "Khon Thai," but they saw through us right away (lol). However, for some reason, Hayashi was the only one who ignored us. Hayashi's Thai pronunciation is so good that even I, a Japanese person, can understand it, but I think it was actually just my appearance that got me through ^^
ถึงเกาะนางยวนแล้ว พอข้ามสะพานไปก็จะเข้าสู่ตัวเกาะค่ะ ไกด์บอกว่าที่นี่มีกฎว่าห้ามนำ ขวดพลาสติกเข้าไปบนเกาะเด็ดขาด ก่อนเข้าเกาะจะมีเจ้ าหน้าที่คอยเช็คสัมภา ระเพื่อไม่ให้นักท่อง เที่ยวนำขยะเข้าไปค่ะ แล้วก็ราคาค่าเข้าเกาะสำหรับค นไทยและคนต่างชาติจะไม่เท่ากัน เจ้าหน้าที่จะคอยถามว่า “คนไทยหรือเปล่าครับ?” คนญี่ปุ่นอย่างเราเลยลองตอบไปว่า “คนไทย” แต่ก็ถูกจับได้ทันทีค่ะ (หัวเราะ) แล้วทำไมคุณฮายาชิถึง ไม่ถูกถามอะไรเลยล่ะ? ความจริงแม้แต่คนญี่ปุ ่นอย่างดิฉันก็รู้สึกไ ด้ว่าสำเนียงการพูดภาษ าไทยของคุณฮายาชิดีมาก แต่คิดว่าที่เจ้าหน้าที่ไม่ถามอะไรเลยน่ าจะเป็นเพราะหน้าตาเ หมือนคนไทยมากกว่าค่ะ ^^
On Koh Nangyuan, you can do mountain climbing and snorkeling. We split up and enjoyed each separately. Actually, when boarding the speedboat, we had to walk barefoot through shallow water with sharp rocks, and Noo and Oil had an accident where they injured their feet. They couldn't walk so we had to wait at a rest area, but later on we received treatment on Koh Tao. It looks very painful...

After leaving Koh Nangyuan, we head to our next destination, Koh Tao, where we first have lunch and prepare for our next snorkeling trip.

Then head to the snorkeling spot on Koh Tao!
Here you dive directly from the boat. The tour guide (far right in the upper left photo) is a former soldier from Myanmar, and he was a very kind and fun person with a surprisingly loud voice. In the sea, the schools of fish are so familiar with humans that they cling to your body and you can see them up close, feeling them poking you from time to time.

I've always felt this way when I come to Thailand, but Thai people are good at posing.
I can pose like a model. It's quite a high hurdle for Japanese people.

After soaking up the sunshine, the group then took another hour on the speedboat back to Koh Samui, but fatigue got the better of us and everyone slept soundly despite the violent rocking.
It was so much fun being able to enjoy the blue ocean without any rain the whole day!

วันนี้ฝนไม่ตกเลย ทุกคนเต็มอิ่มกับทะเลสีครามอันสวยงาม เป็นอีก 1 วันที่สนุกมากๆ เลยค่ะ!
After a short rest at the hotel, we went to a restaurant recommended by Hayashi-san.

It's a nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere. However, one thing that comes with company trips is that you have to set a budget. Noo-san picks out the menu so that we can arrange it within our budget.

Today is the last night of the company trip. Mr. Hayashi asked Mong-kun to lead the toast.
"I'm glad it's sunny today. Actually, I had prayed for the weather to be sunny today. I prayed that if it was sunny, I would run 12km. So when I get home, I'm going to run. Cheers, everyone!" I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. I felt that everyone must have their own reasons for participating in this company trip.

We all have our last dinner together. The photo on the right is Mong-kun who led the toast. ทุกคนทานมื้อค่ำของคืนสุดท้ายพร้อมกัน ภาพขวาคือหมงผู้กล่าวเปิดงาน
And on the final day, the group had to take another four and a half hour journey back, so they left Koh Samui in the early afternoon. With the blue sea behind them, the company trip for 18 people came to an end.
และแล้วก็มาถึงวันสุดท้าย 4 ชั่วโมงครึ่ง เราเดินทางออกจากเกาะสมุยช่วงเที่ยงๆ ค่ะ ทริปที่มีฉากหลังเป็นท ะเลสีครามของพวกเราทั้ง 18 คนได้จบลงแล้ว

After the company trip
It was my first company trip in my life. I think company trips are rare in Japan these days. I've worked for both small and large companies, but I've never seen or heard of a company that takes a positive view of going on trips with employees. To be honest, I think it's more of a shyness.
Soon after I came to Monotai, I wondered what it meant for all the employees to look forward to the company trip. However, now that I've been here for half a year, I feel that it's only natural that everyone was looking forward to the company trip.

แต่ตั้งแต่มาทำงานที่โมโนสัสไทยก็สงสัยม าตลอดว่าทริปบริษัทที่ทุกคนรอคอยคืออะไร หลังจากที่ทำงานที่นี่มากว่าครึ่งปี ตอนนี้เข้าใจแล้วว่าทริปบริษัทที่ทุ กคนรอคอยเป็นอะไรที่เป็นธรรมชาติมากๆ ค่ะ
At Monotai, the word "employee" itself feels a bit unnatural. The boundary between work and private life is well-balanced, and it feels like working with friends. And it's not unnatural to travel with friends.

สำหรับที่โมโนสัสไทย คำว่า “พนักงาน” ฟังดูไม่เป็นธรรมชาติเลยค่ะ เพราะทุกคนปรับเส้นกั้นระหว่างเรื่ องงานกับเรื่องส่วนตัวอย่างเหมาะสม รู้สึกเหมือนทำงานกับเพื่อนมากกว่าค่ะ และการไปเที่ยวกับเพื่อนก็ไม่ ใช่เรื่องแปลกอะไรเลยใช่ไหมคะ
แล้วเพราะอะไรถึงรู้สึกเช่นนี้? ตอนนี้ทุกท่านอาจจะยังไม่เข้าใจ เพราะได้เห็นแค่บางส่วนเท่านั้น แต่ถ้าได้เห็นทั้งหมดคิด ว่าทุกท่านจะเข้าใจถึงรู ปแบบการทำงานที่ไม่ได้ทำ กันในลักษณะขององค์กรค่ะ
