ICECREAMING MAG

This month's MVP is Makoto Hamabata, who sees things from the other person's perspective and builds trust in a natural way.

Hello. This is Kawarazaki from the operations team.
This month's MVP award went to Makoto Hamabata, who is on the same operations team.
The reason for the award was that the sales amount for a certain project that Hamabata is in charge of finally reached a large number this month (he will refrain from disclosing the specific amount), and that Hamabata's work in making this happen was recognized.
This time, I, who am a member of the same team as him and have worked on many projects with him, would like to explain the background to his award.

Hamabata's work ethic that led to the MVP

Each month, an MVP is selected from the recommendations of each department manager, and this year's nominator, Nagai, said, "By seeing things from the other party's (client or end user's) perspective, he is able to deeply understand and tackle projects. Another reason I recommended him is that he interacts with clients in a natural manner and has built relationships of trust."

Here is one example of why we received this award.

First, as an example of "being able to understand a project deeply by seeing it from the other person's point of view," when he designs a website, he always considers "Is it really easy for the viewer to use?", so even if he receives a structure proposal from a client, he does not design it as is. First, he sees things from the "end user's point of view," and sometimes he even proposes changing the structure of the page itself.
By repeating these kinds of proposals, we were able to ultimately increase the client's satisfaction and even receive additional projects.
I think I was recognized for my attitude of not just doing what I was told, but working while keeping the original purpose of the project in mind.

Also, when it comes to "interacting with clients in a natural way," I feel the same way when I work with him.
When I look at him, I think, "Don't make yourself look bigger than you are."
I think that at work, we sometimes try to make ourselves look bigger, to a greater or lesser extent, but that's not the case with him, and I feel like he always speaks as he is, no matter what the situation.
When I asked him about his stance on work, he answered matter-of-factly, "I want people to know me by looking at my bad side, rather than my good side." I felt that his desire to be seen as he is, without trying to look cool, reflected the true "Hamagaya-ness."
When drinking, if he drinks too much he can become a bit too natural and things can become a bit carefree (laughs), but I think it's this and that kind of personality and attitude that has earned him the trust of the people he works with and his clients.

Hamabata works silently

A willingness to do anything

Monosus creators are basically divided into "designers," "coders," and "directors," and the roles are divided according to the work phase, with "designers" tending to be solely responsible for design.
Hamabata was originally brought on as a designer, but he handles any task given to him, including coding and direction, and whatever the project.

I am always helped by the wide range of work he is able to do and his ability to adapt, and I feel that his determination to complete any task given to him is one of the reasons he was recognized this time.

Gaining trust, not only within the company but also with clients, is a time-consuming and difficult process, but Hamabata achieves this by seeing things from the end user's perspective and working closely with his clients.
Being trusted must have given him confidence.
He will continue to hone his own work style and become a leader in the operations team and a guide for clients.

Comments on receiving MVP award

Thank you MVP.

To be honest, I never thought I would win, and when the winners were announced I was like, "Who? Who?" and didn't even notice my name being called.
This award is not due to my own efforts, but rather to the efforts of everyone who supports me on a daily basis.

Shimizu, who only recently joined the company, is working desperately on projects despite there being many things he doesn't understand, Kawarazaki, who is also my boss, helps out with projects by acting as an advisor when we're in trouble and as a pinch hitter when we don't have the resources, and Harazawa from the sales department handles all the coordination with customers.

Receiving this award has made me realize once again that I am able to do my job thanks to everyone's support, but at the same time it has made me realize that I have to work even harder, so I hope you will all continue to support me in the future!
