Hello, this is Tomita from FarmMart & Friends.
FarmMart & Friends, which launched in March 2022, underwent renovation work during February in preparation for the opening of CIMI restorant, which will open in the evenings.
We will be reopening on March 1, 2024! All the members were excited and nervous about the new structure, but we have changed the interior design and menu composition, and we are very happy to see so many people visiting the restaurant every day.
Now that the store has been renovated and is finally starting to feel familiar to us, we would like to share with you some of the new features it has undergone.
Red cedar table from Alaska
The renovation was handled by Schemata Architects , the same company that handled the opening of FarmMart & Friends. The construction was handled by Takamoto-san of Takamoto Design and Construction and Fukumoto-san of TANK . The biggest attraction was this table. It is made of red cedar from Alaska that is hundreds of years old.
Originally it was a large log, about 6 metres in size.
This log had been lying dormant for many years in the stockyard of Takahiro Lumber (Shin-Kiba, Tokyo). By chance, we were given permission to use this log, and after many discussions, we finally completed the project.
Until now, the restaurant only had a few seats at a counter facing outward, but now more people can dine inside!
I was a little worried that the distance between the neighbors would become too close, but there were times when communication naturally emerged. I hope that this will become a space where everyone can enjoy meals together around the large table.
CIMI restaurant is finally open!
Starting in November 2023, "The restorant," which had been holding a pop-up in the evenings after FarmMart & Friends closed, will reopen under the new name "CIMI restorant." It is a sister store of " The Blind Donkey " in Kiyosumi Shirakawa.
"CIMI" is written in kanji as "plain".
The name "restOrant" represents the taste of the land and the richness of the soil, and the original spelling of the restaurant, "au," has been changed to "O," which means restore.
CIMI is also a testing ground for the question: What should we cook to restore the health of people and the planet?
The menu will be centered around three plant-based dishes made from vegetables, beans, and grains, as a complete nutritional meal. In addition, they will use ingredients that play a role in solving problems in Japan's natural environment, such as venison and oysters from producers who are committed to the sustainability of the land and sea.
Please come and enjoy Chef Tomo's lovingly prepared dishes and delicious wine!
Lunch has begun!

So, we decided to start serving lunch under the supervision of Tomo, the chef from CIMI restaurant.
The lunch menu includes "multigrain vegan doughnuts," "salad and side dishes," and "soup."
"It would be better to boil these vegetables separately."
"I want customers to enjoy the freshness of the ingredients, so it's best to mix it after the order is placed!"

As we discussed this, we came up with a way to allow customers to enjoy the delicious vegetables delivered by our farmers and the condiments available in the store.
As the vegetables we receive change with the season, we plan to change our menu accordingly. We hope you enjoy the seasonal vegetables along with your donuts.
Vegetables and seasonings are also sold at the store, so if you see something you like or are interested in, you can just buy it.

The tableware used for lunch was individually handmade by Takahashi Kazuma . It fits comfortably in your hand and you can feel the warmth of the wood.
Business hours change
Due to the opening of "CIMI restaurant", the business hours of Farmmart & Friends will be changed. Until now, the business hours were different for weekdays, weekends and holidays, but we have decided to unify them.
Farmmart & Friends
Business hours: 11:00~18:30 (drink orders and seating available until 18:00)
Closed: Wednesdays and Thursdays (open on public holidays, with substitute holidays)
All donuts will be available after 12:00.
Reservations must be made by phone at least one day in advance.
