Our staff meals are delicious.
I don't mean to brag about this.

At the Food Hub, there is a staff meal time every day from 2pm.

There are many different teams,
(Agriculture, food and beverage, bread, food sales, processing, food education)
It's the only time we can all get together every day.

The agricultural team has to start early in the morning and it's physical labor, so I think they are making great efforts to fit in their schedules.

What is the secret to helping team members work enthusiastically?

I heard about this from a friend who runs a very popular ramen restaurant called Ramen Shop in Oakland, California (he also worked at Chez Panisse).

"Eat together, keep learning."

"To be able to eat together and continue to learn."

The answer was immediate.

Using that as a reference, we discussed
We decided on a time for everyone to gather and eat together.
This has been going on since the store first opened.

What does it mean to "eat together"?

I've been away a lot recently, so
Although we don't eat together much, I talk with the agricultural team about the current state of the vegetables,
While saying this and that,
Sometimes we even do tastings.

I think the important thing is that "feeling" of eating from the same pot.

I guess I'm an old-fashioned guy,
Nowadays, even if you are a freelancer and don't belong to the same company,
You just have to work efficiently to achieve your goals.
I think there are many people who think this way.

"It's the same once the goal is achieved."
(I thought so too)

But we don't just work together for one goal.
I think it's fine to be in the same company so that we can all "eat from the same pot."

I'm starting to not understand what's being said.

Yes, how you eat is also important.

When I was in elementary school, I used to sit at desks pushed together with my neighbours in the classroom and eat while chatting away.
Recently, I have been sitting with my desk facing forward, just like in class.
Apparently he eats his school lunch alone (which is work).

In free schools,
It seems like you can eat wherever you want, whenever you want.
I wonder if this is too free at this point,
Of course, there are times when you want to eat alone.

Even in our meals, some children eat together,
Some kids eat alone, and some don't even come.
Recently, I've come to realize that "eating together" doesn't just mean sitting around the same table and eating the same food.

People are at their most natural when they are eating.

The "staff meal time" where we eat together is
I think it would be good if we could create a place where we could all be considerate of each other and be in our natural everyday states.

Just like the dining table.
